It was one of those times when I had a surreal relationship related emergency and I had to call my girlfriend who was in Africa. My phone plan neither had Free sms nor an international calling plan. In my mind I wanted her to be on skype at that moment so that we could utilize the free voip international calling service. I wished I could call someone to call her and tell her to get online so that we could sort our differences out. I don't have to go to my computer to make a phone call as i can do it freely and easily from my mobile phone.

During the inception of the internet, it was just a bunch of telephones connected to computers and that was the basic concept. So its pretty easy to figure and put in non geeky language that just the way IP addresses make calls to servers when you are browsing the web, the same technique can be used with cell phones.
